Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Target closure in W Brown Deer Rd in Milwaukee

Sorry folks, but what were you expecting? That Target looks more like a Burlington Coat Factory store rather than a Target. All merchandise arranged poorly on the shelves, end caps with no product, old signs, pricing inaccurate and there is nobody left who has any good service attitude. Close it, tear it down. A Blockbuster would be more profitable today than that horrid store.

I'm going to say this just one more time and real slow for some if you (cause you are idiots). BC invoked Bruce Dayton's legacy and said that community is the reason for target to exist (on the day he died). We all know profit is the only motive for BC, he has closed Canada and 25 stores since taking over, plus laid off thousands. He has no right to say community is important while abandoning communities that clearly need some help. You all suck and should be ashamed!

Not enough people are shopping there anymore to support the Target store. If there were they'd stay. It really is that straight forward. And, yes Target in the business to make a profit - 5% of said profit is returned to the community each year making Target one of the top Ten Companies in the US for giving year after year.

Ok, let's back up several years. Someone lived there and someone thought people wanted to shop there. Can we agree on that?? Apparently it is a sh** hole now and Target no longer wants to be part of the community, right. So, target was never interested in the community, only making money. That is my point!

It is a little funny that a guy that's from there is being challenged on his knowledge of the area from someone who isn't.

Again, have you been there???? Obviously not. You have not the first clue about it, your making shit up.... Its in the country, not in a town or a city: Rural - see Webster. You compared this particular store's community to Harlem: Rural versus inner city - Ridiculous generalization. Now your an expert on what is rural because you grew up in the sticks???? Are you an expert on plumbing because you use a toilet? You haven't the first clue about what your talking about in any of these rants.

Sounds like Harlam 25 years ago. Target fought like hell to get in there.....but only after it was already revitalized. They don't give a sh!! about community, just profit.

Go haunt Walmart! No company has done more to destroy small town america and the little guy. Also, Northridge is an absolute crime riddles S hole! I used to shop there. There was murder, armed robbery, drug deals in the open, you name it. Google it....

Fact is I do care about all those communities. I've seen the devastation of my home town from big box retailers coming in, driving out the main street shop keepers and then leaving. My family and friends still live there. Now with no where to shop and no jobs. But I also detest BC and his pretentious attitude, don't pretend to care about community.

So Anonymous199968 we get it. You really don't care about community - specifically Northridge nor the People/Community that work there. Your ARE into passing judgement on the people that work at TGT and the business they conduct and of course slamming Target in general. A little sad brother.

199966, you are right. Brown deer is a metaphor for every community that large corporation retailers have abused and abandoned over the years. I detest BC invoking Bruce Dayton's name and saying community is the most important thing to target...cause it is BS and he should be called out. What matters to Target is profits only. You made that point for me in your earlier posts. Community....ha!

199943: Your concern for the Northridge community seems far from genuine and your insight into the community is even less credible. Tell me, when was last time you set foot on Brown Deer Road? I could meet you tonight and you could share your plans for our support.

199907 Go to Milwaukee and open a small business. I'm sure the community will support you if you support them.

199922,199915 - First hand Knowledge of Brown Deer/Northridge. So if you type it does that make whatever you spew true? This is abut Target closing a store in Northridge correct? Small business put out by Target in NR? Nope, never were any.... The mall closed over 10 years ago. Target store "not losing money." YES, this Target store was NOT making a profit after payroll for years and hung on WAY too long. I suppose Brown Deer should just give merch away. I used to have that store in my District, would have loved to see it make necessary sales - but it hasn't for years and years.

199907, you realize target was not losing money, just not making as much as they want. That is a big difference. Lots of small business owners driven out by target and others would have thrived on those reduced profits.

199907, you are missing the point. If Target really cared about a community they would have done everything to make sure it was still vibrant. In the end target, like other 'national' retailers only use communities until they no longer want to. Target probably, along with other national chains, drove out the real community retail businesses that truly cared. Now nothing is left....thank you Target, may I have another!

Come on 199809, the community moved away from Brown Deer. Which community exactly should Target support? It's gone.... If it was still vibrant the mall would have stayed and Target would be trucking right along. It truly amazes me how ignorant some of these posts are. You CLEARLY have never been to Northridge Plaza in Milwaukee, if you had you'd understand.

Yep, nothing more important to Target and it's founders than community....at least that is what BC says publicly. I guess you were not a profitable enough community. Better luck to all you other communities out there with a Target.

This is a no brainer! The adjacent mall shut down 12 years ago. The area's been in financial decline for years. Time to stop the bleeding and move on. Good decision!
