Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Staples is a horrible company

Sorry for the bitching and nagging that will proceed down below but I had to get this off my chest.

Staples is the worse employer to work under, for Christ sakes they're basically the Walmart of Office Supplies except less successful.

The district managers are complete trash (or at least the one I have), the general managers don't have a lick of knowledge in other departments, but enjoy putting blame on their poor employees who don't get the training they deserve and are expected to fix everything.

I've never worked somewhere that considered part-time as only eight hours a week (32 hours a month!) as livable and expect you to be completely dedicated to them.

I doubt anybody big will read this because they're too busy laughing themselves to the bank while the employees are suffering consequences from their lack of management but oh man it felt damn good to get this off my chest!

They know the retail division is dying out. I understand layoffs and closures are needed. That being said, they treat the stores like red headed step children. Stop going into stores and ripping people up over things they can not control with no payroll. Stop persecuting people to get them to quit so you can avoid severance and unemployment costs. Stop the nasty, condescending, email blasts IE "I can find bums under a bridge that can run stores better than you". Stop comparing all the "sub par" stores to the regional "shill" store that is allowed to go over payroll weekly and has additional key-holding staff.

Worst company I've ever worked for. I would not want to run a business like Staples does

I'm so sorry. I disagree with you. All the district managers are trash. Not just yours.

Your not only one that feels that way. If those idiots know it all thinks staples will last the way it's running they are wrong.

They used to be a good company, prior to 2008. Then they really started getting greedy and mistreating people. The recession gave them a lot of leverage, as the unemployment rate went up. They cut payroll hours, fired higher paid managers over trivial things. They froze wages and did not fully pay out earned bonuses, yet the execs took undeserved bonuses, against a shareholder referendum! The glory days were over for Ron and his cronies, and they would have to actually work for their supper. "Can't have that, start cutting payroll, benefits and bonuses to the peons and raise all those in my inner circle."
