Seagate already has an army of people hired in India that can be re-tooled, re-purposed to do any type of SW development. ------------------------------------They've already done it to EVault. Unfortunately, Dothill will not be immune to this trend. It's only a question of time required for the knowledge transfer.

Not lies at all, I work there now and it is all true. The bottom line, outsourcing major components to India never works but everyone has to learn this the hard way. To save money, outsource small, simple slices of projects otherwise it will backfire.
In case of EVault, Seagate laid off plenty of engineers in Oakville few months ago and then has hired very quickly more than 30 people in India in last months. In the same time hiring in Oakville was stopped indefinitely. People from Oakville started leaving company as they were not certain about their future. In last 2-3 months more than 10 people left. More people will leave if no actions are taken by Seagate. Development and morale of people is affected seriously now as nobody from Seagate management cares about jobs in Canada. I hope EVault survives this storm.
Not lies at all. Tracking the careers site over the past half-year demonstrates that the majority of software development positions are being offshored to India. With Seagate trying to minimize expenses to the bare minimum, sending jobs overseas is their favorite trend. Over the long run they'll see the errors in their ways, however...
