Schlumberger is waiting for everyone to make their 2016 annual US benifits enrollments before the start layoffs. If you choose OAP that are going to lay you off. Pick CHO plan and you are a keeper. So do not worry until after November 20.

these post must have came from Haliburton workers...
What is the difference between QUITE and QUIET?
Lay off Criteria #1....Master English language a bit?
Ax all who do not know difference between QUITE and QUIET.
We could expand to THEY ARE and THEIR.
All the high fluting schooled kids and missed Elementary School Grammar.
Ah hell, my ARSE ----It's just junk on Internet where we all get our next job.
Bribe and be happy.
I picked OAP b/c I need surgery next year and overall will be lowest cost. And I'm gonna sleep just fine at night. Decisions on who's cut is made by your N+1,N+2 and higher up. Seniority does not matter. It comes down to if you are needed in the job you hold. A lot of things could count against you. Ever get written up or have a serious performance issue? Do clients like you (I've seen a guy make a million dollar mistake, but the client liked him..... so he's still around)? Will you relocate if asked? Those are the things considered. SLP3 scores also.... but D-rateds were cut a long time ago. Unfortunately good ppl are being let go. But your choice of medical plan is NOT a factor. No legit HR is going to openly post on this board. Ignore everything posted by "HR".
Why would any one work for free and without benifits? Atlas if you are let go you can get incentives...
I took the comparisons tools. Looks like no matter what you select as inputs, the CHO is suposively cheaper... Now with the speculations presented here. I think I know what my selection will be.
After watching the Web cast about the benifits the tough came to my mind... they are sure pushing the CHO hard. But never in my dreams would I think it involved weather or not you will keep your employment... But with Schlumberger anything is possible.
Oh.... I am so glad that is over, now I can get back to work on Monday... I will just waive my Medical and Salary and be free to work for SLB!
Breaking news! Pick any coverage you want THE DOWN TURN IS OVER! I hope we all get raises! And Free Medical coverage for everyone for a year! - HR
We will find out soon!
I talked to Paal, he said you are all wrong, you are not safe if you pick the OAP or the CHO. If you want to be safe waive your medical coverage and salaries and work for free.
Why do people post the word 1st. If you are going to post make a comment. Not just nonsense. Although half the post in here are rubbish
This post is incorrect. Massive layoffs on Friday the 13, havent you guys ever watch the Movies? Bad stuff happens on Friday the 13. Not Friday the 20th. So mark your calendars for November the 13th.
What are you all talking about?
LOL - this is ridiculous. If you want to know what is going on just call Paal and ask...

All of you are crazy!
Pick the plan that works for you... Do not believe anything you see on this post.
This is getting out of control... There is not any relationship to benifit selections and layoffs. You all need to grow up...

I am confused... What really determines who gets let go? Please tell the truth. I have been with SLB for only 13 months and I am really worried about this. I want to pick the OAP plan, but now I am questioning it. There are too many contradictory claims in the discussion board...
It seems like to me that SLB will offer early retirement packages before they will start laying people off. This will have nothing to do with enrollments.
Houston HR...what post you replying too????
If every one chose CHO then I think Schlumberger HR will actually have to evaluate the employees performance to make decisions on who to let go...
Who said we are not taking this into consideration?

Hey Anonymous194218,
Apology accepted. Much nicer worded response. I also would like to apologize to all of you, I had no idea that there were layoffs going on already in some places. I posted that comment with hopes to make you all laugh. I did not intend for folks to ask there HR Managers.
1st at what? being let go? There are 29 post before yours...

I asked my HR manager she said this is BS...
I am in Houston have seen any lay offs. I have not heard of any in SRC, CHPC or Sugar Land... So in these areas nothing has Happened. I agree that Houston's claims that it is dependent on what benefit election we pick is bogus, but I assume he is just wanting answers and is posting to get answers. It is very quite around here. I wish the company or HR would let us know what is going on, if any thing... So that we do not have to make assumptions or wild hypothesis. One thing I agree with Houston on is that there is not any reason for bad language or rude talking. This is a stressful time. So please post the facts. Let us know what is going on.
Dear "Houston" - too bad if my "unkind" words hurt your delicate ego. 1) I don't know where you are based, but in my neck of the woods there have been plenty of layoffs so far in Q4, and more to come. 2) You saying "I was just sharing a thought about why we haven't seen layoffs" is both ignorant and disingenuous. Ignorant b/c you seem to literally not know that people have been getting axed (ignorance is a lack of information), and disingenuous b/c it wasn't phrased as a "thought" but rather a "fact". CHO is cheaper and the company would prefer that employees choose it, but it's irresponsible of you to say that employees choosing CHO are safe, and those choosing OAP will be cut. Hopefully the people who read this board make the choice that they believe is in their best interests, irrespective of unfounded speculation put out there by people such as yourself.
The Layoffs Discussion Board is a simple discussion space for all of us who would like to learn more about possibility of job cuts in our company. The workforce reduction process is inherently secretive and companies release little or no details while planning such actions. On the other hand each of us may be greatly impacted these top-secret decisions - hence all anxiety that the worker may experience is such a setup. Enter TheLayoff.com - The purpose of this site is to provide a space for all that would like to discuss possibility, likelihood or impacts or layoffs in their company.
LOL. After 4 years of CHO, we have over $10k in the HSA, and haven't found medical care to be onerous in any way. I guess if you go to the doctor really regularly, or are being treated for a condition like diabetes, the OAP is the way to go. Otherwise, for light users of health care, the CHO is not bad at all.
That said, no, I don't think the determine layoffs this way.
I see the logic, but it is not really how they determine the layoffs. Pick what ever health insurance you want. In my opinion; If any layoffs, it will either be done before Thanksgiving or Before Christmas... Not a result of elections for benefits. I am picking OAP
wow, some people...
You are all crazy... pick the plan that is best for you and you dependents. Do not believe this nonsense. It is probably so idiot in HR trying to convince you to pick the CHO.
Better to be safe than sorry, I picked OAP...
This is the most logical thing I saw on this post board. This is more relent than the woman with the spontaneous combustion. It is free speech. Speak your mind... I find it entertaining... Thanks for sharing your thoughts...
I was not trying to make trouble, just sharing a thought about why we have not seen any layoffs. Let's please use kind words.
