Plans for a July layoff are already in motion. Sorry to tell everyone, but it's the truth. How many and exactly where still hasn't been finalized but it is definitely coming.

Our area is at least 30% overstaffed for the work that we have. This has been going on for over a year, without question they have to reduce the workforce. Why on earth would management continually tell us to watch and curtail our spending and still pay millions in salaries and benefits to employees they don't need? They have been doing this for so long it seems it is finally time to make a reduction in the work force. You hire for the work that you have. When you send the work overseas you don't need the same amount of employees. The biggest thing is that work is NOT going to be replaced! There has to be and there is going to be a layoff. It just makes sense that Micron is finally going to do the fiscally responsible thing. Oh and at this company there is no such thing as "seniority".

Watch the others in the hallways. You can see the low-morale as its the worst kept secret ever.

Trust in the company and leadership is falling so fast. It's a shame that people that are working their asses off and getting high performance ratings even should need to worry about this crap.

If they let go anyone with great ratings history then they should just scrap the whole PPA

Where is the loyalty ?

I work in Folsom and I also had to rank my direct report last week. Haven't heard of any workforce reduction meetings though. Given my position, I don't think I would.

As a project manager I have to say the general work force has no idea what is in store for them.I am leaving the company at the end of July to explore other opportunities. Brace yourselves, there are a lot more changes coming.

Micron has changed so much in the last several years and not in a good way for their U.S. employees. We have a "new" vice president in charge of something or other every other month , and as a "fellow team member" we are asked to welcome them into the fold. Who are all of these high paid so and so's that have no connection to us and what we do every day? How about providing us with enough work to keep us busy doing the job we were hired to do? How about a raise once in a while. Another example of how the American worker is being forgotten. The companies politically correct labor policy is laughable!

I wish Mr. Appleton was still here. At least he would have been honest with us. He wouldn't have had us to just stand around and worry as we see our jobs leaving for China.

Twenty three years is enough for me! So tired of coming to work with about three hours of work in an twelve hour day. I am done. I can't keep getting paid just to pretend we are busy. I am "special projected" out! If Micron does not have the work for me I was hired and trained to do then it is time to say good bye. Good luck to you all. I am sorry to say a lot of you will be leaving unexpectedly as well. Just a short matter of time.

Upper management IS making all the decisions without all of the correct information being given to them. Lower management wants to keep their operation running so they can keep their jobs so they do not or do not properly inform their bosses of the true picture of what is happening in their area. All anyone has to do is to walk into our area un announced and see for themselves everyone just sitting around.

I recently gave notice. Moved to Boise for director role and can only handle 9 months. Seems that the real work is done at lower manager level and all the decisions are made at senior level without really knowing the full story. There are some great skilled people in the area I am leaving and it's a shame that they are not given latitude or recognized. Get rid of upper management that rules by intimidation and secret squirrel knowledge. No resources to hire and too much to do. Good luck with cuts

People in my department walk on to the floor in the morning using their phones and they are on their phones literally all day. I guess you could say there clearly is no work ethic in our area anymore because there is not enough work to keep even half of our crew busy. Not like it used to be. What a shame!

Did someone say two supervisors supervising six operators? How can this company be so shortsighted? How can they say they are trying to save money? They don't even look at these things.Where is the area manager in this instance?

If the management monitors online activity, they would know by now what most of the employees are doing during the day, especially mornings!

Stop paying employees to stand around doing nothing! Who thinks that is a good way for the company to spend its money?

With all of the constant talk from upper management concerning "cost cutting" and reducing costs, we have two supervisors;TWO! that supervise a total of six people. We are not talking engineers here Six operators! That's about $120,000 a year to supervise six people. I guess when they talk cost cutting they mean less copy paper and paper clips. Really? How about having some integrity here? Just another example of how they really have no idea what is really going on within the daily work place.

Worse than that even is firing Americans, and then relocating foreign citizens to Boise to do the same job.

I have been with Micron for 17 years. The company is just not the same. Sure change is a part of every business and Micron is going through a lot of changes. I understand that. However, taking away American jobs and sending them in vast amounts overseas has never been part of the "changes" that I have experienced since I have been here. It's a new era. I expect to be laid off at some point. Boise is not where Micron wants to keep manufacturing jobs. It's sad but it's a fact. How can anyone not see that?

Business changes over years. Micron is positioning itself in the Global market. In the process of doing that business in certain areas of the company get very slow until there is a downsizing or a layoff. We are probably going through that now. The company has not spent literally billions of dollars overseas to keep the jobs in Boise. It's sad, but face reality. Boise is in the process of drastic changes and with that comes job loss. That's just the way it is. My job deals with lots of people in many different departments, and they are all generally slow; nothing near what it was. I am sure the people commenting on this page are worried about there job going overseas. Good luck to you all!

Unless you are in an R not "people" decisions. Appleton would never have let this happen. His employees were the most important thing to him. I guess you haven't been around too long if you don't know that.

We are not standing around do nothing because we choose to do that. We are standing around doing nothing because Micron has chosen to give our jobs away to workers in other countries! If we all chose to leave you still would not get a raise. The company had the money to pay you more and they chose to give the money to someone else. Don't be mad at the different people who have commented on this. The see things as they really are. Micron takes care of themselves; they don't need you to stick up for them. There actions speak for themselves. You must be one of the lucky "staff" personnel that work in Bldg 17
