Thread regarding Follett layoffs

RL resigns after 22 years.

The SVP of Enterprise Infrastructure and Security resigns after 22 years to 'pursue new opportunities.' Corporate speak for quit in lieu of discharge I think? Maybe RL saw writing on the wall? We get a standard VP (yes, ANOTHER one, quite a top heavy ship we have here, its about pushed the rest of us just below the surface, wouldn't you say?) and several other bumps up. As an outsider I'm left to wonder what happened in EIT? Is this a prelude to an unpopular rollout? Another 'necessary' Pogrom? Do we get an announcement that Follett's ten-year-behind-the-times-outsourcing strategy is full steam ahead? Does someone explain why CNS is actually the second coming? and finally, Why is it I imagine wanting to punch SS repeatedly in the face until what I imagine is a stupid S*** eating grin he had on his face while writing the release is gone? Well, like they say in the trenches, SSDD!

...For the record, I recognize people retire all the time. 22 years is a good run. But pursuing other opportunities isn't a decision one usually makes in their twilight years, maybe RL is different?

*There is a shakedown organization wide......soon. * Does that mean a mass hiring of VP's? CNS, CNS, CNS!

Don't vaguebook. If you know specifics it wont work unless you share what you're comfortable with. That's what this board is about.

Follett IT listen up! The bottom line is the product, programs. projects, software, applications you are delivering don't work consistently or reliably, YOU'VE GOT TO BE AWARE OF THIS FACT. The process by which you deliver your work: Outsourcing, agile or whatever really has no consequence beyond the fact that our tools at Follett need to work and deliver value to the buyers, floor team members, cashiers, marketing teams etc. Whether its POS, Fulfillment tools, sourcing tools or the support of our PC's and Mac's our technology teams are not getting the job done. I'm sitting in a store. People do get fired at Follett for non performance and you are not performing. Stop Whining and get it done!

Why does SS still has a job? He spends spends spends but his track record for delivery is awful. And talked about condescending.

Anonymous193186: Anybody know what that VP did before he was laid off and now that he is back?

Just curious about why SS still has a job...

I mean really, going back 40 years...has there been anyone more who promised more and delivered less? I just don't understand what is keeping him in place? It's kind of crazy isn't it? The first meeting I was in he casually bragged about how he was pressuring a vendor to give him a set of Google glasses.....I mean really. This is IT leadership now?

To Anonymous193386, just a much smaller bench! Ha, Ha! CNS, CNS, CNS! RL was a condescending a-hole that talked down to everyone below him. Surprised it took SS this long to get rid of him. SS has now outlasted MLS and RL. Amazing! He must be feeling good about his million dollar mortgage now!

"Business as usual" yeah right, no one is believing that. The cuts are coming probably why RL "retired". I'll give him that, leave before being forced to break promises.

Do not worry about CNS. Our bench is very deep with A player talent. Business as usual.

RL can always cry like a baby to the family like the last VP who was laid off, and he will get a new job at FSS. If it worked for someone like that, it should work for RL

Roger was a valuable asset. He had no time for stupid people. That fact raised many enemies in Follett middle and upper management. He scared stupid people...which explains why sammyjean schwing may have pushed him out. Roger would allow someone to do things that were going to hurt Follett. Roger on at least one occassion stopped IT VPs like Dillon from forcing out software (mobile pos) when it wasnt ready. That action cost those VPs doh in the bonus program. Best wishes for happiness and success in your new adventures Roger...lots of Follett alum feel the same.

Say it is true?!?! He is a worthless, brown noser that is not interested in service, the end user or customer! Empire building fails! Hope BK goes with!

And there is no one in CNS to lead that team!
