Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Schlumberger is not going to have any more layoffs. Do not worry about it. Every one is safe.

I heard that all the rumors are lies. Be at peace. All is well at Schlumberger.

What's wrong with you people, the layoffs are far from over! Two hammer techs just got laid off today in Smith Bits! If you think big blue cares you are wrong! We are all under the chopping blocks!

They won't do anymore Furloughs, be layoffs from here on out. Another 10% Worldwide and they'll target G12's and higher (Mgmt., office type jobs, ones that get paid about 5 times the regular employees do) along with 30-35-40 yr hands in the 4th Qtr. Business is business in the Oil field, every 5 years or so it peaks and falls on its ass. One just has to be aware of this and know Oil field doesn't last forever. These companies can't do a better job in taking care of their employees, this next upswing their going to find out how hard it is to hire people thats forsure. Most will start new careers and not look back. If it was me I'd look at triming 80-90% of the the 20,000 safety people that sit in their office and send emails all day 1st and then call ole Paal K. and see if he'll take a 5 mil cut next yr from the 18 mil yearly salary he's paid each year. That'd alone would save 10,000 jobs. But again, they don't ask me so none of this will probably get done.
