Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

were you laid off because you did not get along with your boss/bosses?

that is why in normal companies third party consultants are used to judge during layoffs to avoid conflict of interests.

I would say in any significant industry event, like today's commodity prices it is difficult to protect yourself from all the bulls eyes. It is happening today in all companies.

I once was reduced for what I believe actions that others played just as or more significant roles in.

Use these times to reflect, acknowledge the bigger the company the more sharp shooters there are and get yourself into a better spot all the more wiser when the opportunity presents itself.

Yes. As I was packing my box, my N+1 said my N+2 had it out for me.

Not caring too much now, in retrospect I'm glad to be out. SLB management is some of the worst. Not all engineers make great managers.

Yes I was laid off due to conflict with management style .

One particular person who just happened to be the guy who makes the calls on who gets laid off .

10 plus years never written up and never had a safety incident .

Impeccable quality record to boot .

I'm good with it working for a smaller company now that seems to appreciate hard work and actually encourages learning and training .

Thanks Slb for the fat bank account .
