Without a doubt the Norgies had it much better when traveling outside of their country. Business class each way is enough of a perk on its own on the long hauls.
Admittedly, I never saw them role up to work in anything other than a mid or full size and their accommodations were not The Waldorf Astoria but it wasn't the No-Tell Motel either.
However, they have a knowledgeable workforce who, due to gross mismanagement, are suffering with the rest of us. Wasn't the first cut in norway 1/3 of the workforce?
Norway is a best country on welfare
Now they can enjoy it!!!
Norwegians are expensive lot and think they are superior to US and Asian NOV guys. Also when they travel they break the bank, 5 star hotels, $250 per diem, limo service or rental of Merc n BMW. Their COG rates being highest does not help.
They should have kept their noses down and take a lower profile. Too bad, their tech n skills will be duplicated by cheap cheap asians.
I never had a bad time working in Kristiansand, Stavanger, or Sogne.
You can bet I too am glad to be done with it though. The execs can keep saying "each day we are closer to a recovery... we just don't know when."
I'm not going to sit around with uncertainty looming. It sure is sad to see so many great people have to deal with this.
Probably most of these jobs were in Kristiansand. I was there with NOV early in 2014. Nice folks, too bad for them and for that city.
Sooooo glad NOV laid me off in Aug. There are better industries out there to work in!
Not surprised at all. Expect a whole lot more of this in 2016.
