Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Jane Mueller needs to be fired immediately.

What exactly are we paying her for? She has no retail sense whatsoever, and everyone just sucks her off repeatedly. She has the most inane, ineffective criticisms, and they are all made on a whim. "I don't like the look of case stacks". Well Jane, we sell tons of water and it has a huge margin. But I guess that we aren't really in the business of making a profit, are we? That's been pretty clear to me for quite a number of years. You are a joke Jane, and everyone knows it.

1 - You all need to file a massive complaint with the board of Directors to look into this matter of this Jane M.

Any WFM Team Member in the U.S. or Canada may confidentially and anonymously report ethics matters by calling the Team Member Tipline at 1-888-662-5025.

Moving a case stack off the sales floor, is a loss in sales. People will not bother to ask you to bring out a case from the back room. That's retail 101.

You do know that moving a stack does not necessarily mean sales loss...where was it moved to? Water is a seller ,but low dollar per item. What took its place. You clowns miss the forest for the trees . Jane is overwhelmed yes...but does she come from a bad place ? No...grow up and put pickles on that burger dope....everyone has a boss! @ @EOSYTOG-2osv, you are not alone! Every one of those head-slapping moments have happened in both of my stores over the last 9 years. The collective groan when Regional would come through, commanding, demanding, changing, anything to justify their jobs. Yep. Be there when some regional honcho stated he didn't like something, even though he demanded that very exact something a week previous.

They don't seem to know the stores and that there is a REASON for a particular endcap or pallet drop. It sells. In that spot.

One regional vp had the candy barge moved, because his 7 yr old daughter wanted it front and center at the front door. Sales dropped immediately. Never mind that the GRO TL worked out the best location through trial and error, a 7 yr old superseded his expertise.

Another one wanted a " floating" trifold sale sign over the bread barge. I think we all can tell such stories, it isn't an anomaly.

Love this site. Now we know it's not just one region, it's all over the place. The dictator who runs the [omitted] region would strut through the store with his nose in the air, stating, "I like this" or "I don't like that." He once insisted that we remove a department's f&^%ing TELEPHONE! He said he didn't like the way that telephone looked. It was a brand new phone like every other phone! That's right, the only phone they could use to conduct business had to be removed! Our STL took it off the floor for an entire week and it was total chaos. The cordless phones were crap technology and didn't work, and the department without a phone had to run to the back to take all their calls, if another phone was available. After awhile, my STL brought the phone back and said "He will forget all about what he said" And of course, he did. This same arrogant prick also demanded a change to a new store's meat display that he had originally approved...at a cost of about $10,000!!!!! Another time, an RVP came through and insisted we spend a lot of time changing a particular set. The next time, about two months later, he asked why we had set it up that way. We told him "because that's what you wanted." He made us CHANGE IT BACK! Then there was the idiotic regional f*&^head that insisted that all gluten free items have gluten free tags. But according to regional's data control people, those templates had to go through an approval process from global and they weren't allowed to change them and neither were we. Seems like dumbass should have known that. He continued to demand that every gluten free item have a special tag even after we told him it was on direct orders from global and his OWN regional people. All I can say is IF ASSHOLES COULD FLY, THIS PLACE WOULD BE AN AIRPORT!!!!

People like her and Patrick Bradley (saw another post about him) are why we're in this predicament. Best thing to do is GET OUT, before another layoff. Let them deal with their own crappy decisions. Isn't that the point of this site?

She appears nice but doesn't seem to be able to do her job. Why does this surprise us anymore? I remember how the STL and ASTLs would support them no matter what, or they at least presented that face to us. Now, I bet they're all wondering why they never took a stand against these entitled people who happened to inherit a job for which they had no qualifications.

It's because she comes in our store, nit-picking us to pieces, this sign's in the wrong place, these endcaps aren't crisp, all these little things. It's good to be thorough and she is that, but her feedback should make sense and make MONEY. Telling a store to remove case stacks from the sales floor, when they're a top-seller, is asinine don't you think? Just because she doesn't like the way they look. C'mon! And not being open to listening to someone tell her that it doesn't make sense.. she's so stuck in her head and how SHE doesn't like the way something looks. Well I don't like the way she and others in MA "leadership" cost us sales, and then the STL has to have that talk why aren't you comping? Well, I had to remove a TOP-SELLER from our floor, that's why. And it wasn't my decision.

And I know 'm NOT ALONE in feeling this way. Jane, next time you tour the stores here's my feedback to you: when you suggest something, make sure it makes MONEY. You are not a special snowflake, at least not for much longer.

She's one in a long list of persons who have proven themselves ineffective at management and competitionstrategy. What I mean by this is she would always brush off competitors like Kroger, Publix, etc. by saying that they don't matter. Basically that they are irrelevant and couldn't compare to us. This was long ago, but everyone on the E-team has said this for so long they must have really believed it because look at us now. These competitors are getting our business and we have no strategy to win them back. We have laid off the seasoned people who had a following at our stores, to save some money. That's our strategy. Short-sided.

Why all the rage about Jane? She's by far the least of the MA management issues. Look at Sam Park, Scott Allshouse, and that creep Anthony C if you need to vent. At least Jane visits the stores. In ohio we never see any of these people except Jane. They're too busy.

"walks a store at 2pm"

Post ID: @kte+EOSYTOG

Most of these folks in "senior positions" which they got in through the back door have no sense of what the company is facing and would prefer beautiful displays to selling items the Walmart way with empty shelves. When they walk the stores, the demands and expectations are way out of this world. Who on earth walks a walk at 2pm on a Friday and expects a pristine looking store with all displays intact?
