CAMERON IS NOT SLIGHTLY SMALLER THAN NOV. YOU GOT IT BACKWARDS. NOV IS SMALLER THAN CAMERON.
I HIGHLY DOUBT THAT. ONE OF THE NOV CORPORATE LAWYERS HERE AT PARKWOOD 1 CORPORATE OFFICE 4th FLOOR TOLD ME WEATHERFORD WENT THROUGH A MAJOR SCANDAL INVESTIGATION ABOUT A YEAR AGO THAT HAD TO DO WITH ANTI BRIBERY LAWS THEY ENDED UP PAYING OUT HUGE FINES LEFT AND RIGHT. WE WERE ALSO INVESTIGATED AS WE WERE PART OF THAT WHOLE INVESTIGATION. I'M SURPRISED WEATHERFORD DID NOT END UP GOING BANKRUPT OR OUT OF BUSINESS. I REALLY DOUBT WEATHERFORD AND NOV WILL MERGE OR ACQUIRE EITHER ONE. NOT HAPPENING.

Weatherford is also eliminating the option for employees to invest in their stock via the 401K plan effective January 1, 2016...just like NOV. Sounds to me like these two are getting ready to dance with each other.
Schulmberger just acquired Cameron, who is basically a slightly smaller NOV. Why would they want to pick up another drilling hardware manufacturer? If anything, they probably overpaid for Cameron, given that NOV's price continues to drop. On the other hand, NOV appears to be patiently waiting for the right time to buy. Weatherford is down to $7B in value. Forum is down to $1B and they're a solid fit with NOV. Pason is an option at $1B. Dril-Quip is at $2B. FMC might be a bit of a stretch at $7B. Any of these would be a good use of NOV's dollars, assuming they an agree on a sale price. Given what the drilling market will endure for the next few years, consolidation is inevitable. Just be the acquirer, not the acquired.
Now why would SLB want to ruin their good name by purchasing NOV scum? Get real!!
