The severance is trash 1 week of pay for each year you worked at the company.

Exactly. You should be glad you have insurance until the end of the month and got any severance. Severance is not a requirement since Texas is an at will state.

I wouldn't of signed a damn thing if I were you. I'd take the paperwork to a lawyer and get some legal advice first in getting all I can get! The manager in our department made sure she got rid of those she was threatened by. She cannot handle competition well. Stupid bitch!
You should not have walked out of the room if the paper said 1 week per year and you only had a check for half!
They ripped me off, I only got 1/2 of what the letter stated for severance pay and I was there 10 years only got $2000.
