No reason to feel 'dirty' - do you feel that way when you read the crime section in your local newspaper. on the contrary, since this is personal, it's not your typical voyeurism where you try to peek and learn about something that you might not directly be involved with

I guess it's b/c we (the layed off) like to hear (or see, rather) that we're not alone - and while some of the comments play upon what we were thinking (this makes no sense!, I had more seniority!, etc. etc); it's somewhat gratifying to see that WE ARE NOT ALONE.
good question, this can be useful, but it's depressing
