CHK will be acquired by another company soon. Anadarko failed with their hostile bid for Apache. They have money, so do Marathon, COP and Chevron. None of them have made any acquisitions yet, unlike XOM and Shell.

Haynesville, Utica, Marcellus, Barnett and Eagle Ford all fit perfectly into these companies portfolios.

Stock at $4.50 yesterday with a market cap of $3.29B. Pretty soon below $3B. Very attractive for a major operator who wants to add leases and production on the cheap, especially if they are already operating in the same area.

I wish I had some money. I would load up on CHK stock once it is below $4/share although it may drop as low as $3

Lawler taking the CHK gig was a complete money grab. It was win/win. If he were able to miraculously turn the company around, he would make tens of millions off his RSA's alone. If he failed, which by all measurable indicators he has, he will likely be out in 3 years (next year for those counting) and still have made $25M during that time, and you can bet his exit package will be more than generous. Icahn will soon put the pressure on to split up the company and sell it off in pieces. CHK doesn't have enough cash or credit available to weather a 2016 with these prices and the institutions will not stand for this stock to hang around below $5 for very long. Changes are coming, and likely sooner rather than later.

So how many years does it take for the CEO to actually be responsible? When does leadership begin, and the blame game end? Just curious.

People who blame Lawler for the current state of affairs are completely ignorant.

Worst S&P 500 performer today, for the 9th time during 2015. Staggering the incompetence that abounds that shiny glass building. I'd love to be a fly on the wall of the next BoD meeting. OPEC meeting tomorrow will squash this stock to sub 4's.

Devon acquiring a private company for $2B. By end of year, they will be able to acquire CHK for less than that. Good times at 63rd and Western.

52 week. Who cares. How about 15 year low. Actually it's quite impressive to destroy that much value in such a short time. No worries though, the holidays will still be merry in Doug E Fresh 15,000 sq ft compound. Plenty of christmas spirit to go around there!
