Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Why are taxpayer funded Duncan Police acting as Private Security of Halliburton Corporation while on duty being paid on taxpayer hours?

Obviously Halliburton is saving money by using public funded police rather than having their own security. Do taxpayers realize what is going on here? This is a clear sign of corruption at the Police level.

The Duncan PD is a union PD. Trust me, they are paid extremely well.

They take vacation or are on days off from the police department they drive the cars and wear the uniforms home. Ask one of them before you post lies I did he said most of them jump at the chance to make good money take vacation from the department and are working for some easy money they deserve after dealing with the crackheads of this town for peanuts. Don't be hating because they are making a living for there family. Who wouldnt work for 2 times there pay to do nothing.

Cops are not off duty, they are in police cars paid for by taxpayers aren't they? They are in official uniforms aren't they? They are not off duty. If they were that would be fine. The whole argument of cops getting paid enough is not valid. First of all taxpayers don't determine cop pay. The managers do, the same ones that are hiring out the police department to the highest bidders. That is what the Mafia does. Someone is collecting the money and it is not the street cops. They should be upset too because they are being used at normal pay to basically do 2 jobs. This is a management to management agreement at the expense of street cops and taxpayers.

Sure police don't get paid enough, but the question here is why are Duncan Police managers having the department act like a mafia protection agency? If I own a small business can I pay $25,000 a year for special police protection and special service like Duncan Schools and Halliburton? Is there a pricing sheet or is that done in a back room bidding scenario? Maybe Freedom of Information Act can help us find this out.

Well the police are much better than the corrupt Sheriffs Department. But the city should not be acting as an agent of Halliburton. If there is a crime that is one thing, but to be escorting laid off employees out the door like criminals that is ridiculous. Police need to stick to real crime and not be looking to harass.

Some of you people may have never been outside Duncan, but in other cities like Norman... police don't show up unless there is a problem. In Duncan you can see someone walking down the street call the cops and they will show up and harass that person, demand id etc. No crime necessary. You can harass anyone its free....

Duncan Police need to realize their layoffs are coming too. As Halliburton shrinks so will the City of Duncan. The question is who will escort them out of the police station when they get laid off? Highway Patrol? Maybe the city can just cut their pay by 40% and not have to lay them off.

Whatever amount of taxpayer money being paid to the police is a drop in the ocean compared to the bill the taxpayers would have to foot if even one of you idiots went postal and had to go to trial followed by the years of incarceration. If the cops really upset you, buy them some coconut donuts.

Police also get paid by the schools. So if you have a complaint against an administrator the police will threaten you with arrest. Because the administrator pays them, even though you pay taxes you don't matter. You are automatically wrong. One woman went to a school to ask where her kid was and the police tried to intercept her before she even had a chance to arrive at the school to talk to a principal. They tazer kids in the hallways, and basically do whatever the administration tells them to.

Grand Jury? Lawsuits? How much does it cost to get DPD to do some special work for a private citizen? Does anyone have a price sheet?

Escorting laid off employees out the door at Halliburton.

Will the Duncan Police be there for the next layoff? What are they getting that the Taxpayers aren't providing? Who does Duncan Police Department work for?
