Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

What is in store for week of 10/26/2015?

Does anyone really know the numbers they are looking for in terms of the VSP? I have heard not enough have taken it.....what are those numbers? I have heard that 400 pkgs went out and out of those numbers...not enough people took them.....so they are hunting for more to take it.

This is stressful because there is an elephant in the room so to speak. Is there a time when things will settle down....and don't say when oil goes back up. It's very difficult to stay focused and not worry. It's seems like there is not much opportunity out there if you do get cut.....Ugh!!!

Will they be Houston, Midland, or both?

How are they deciding which 20/30 yr olds are being offered VSPs? Which departments are included?

I can confirm that VSPs are also going to people in their 20s and 30s that want to leave. I predict big layoffs will come January 2016 (since I dont think Oxy would have a massive layoff during the holidays)....or they will allow people to natural leave over the next 6 months through (1) VSPs and (2) getting tired of no raises or bonuses in 2016 and finding another job.

Heard that too, but not from an official source.

Employees in their 20s and 30s are being granted VSP packages.. Gotta give it to them, they are really trying to keep people who want to stay and not have to do a mass layoff.

Don't know that they will be able to prevent it
