I'm American and am embarrassed at the xenophobia (and lack of basic English-writing skills) expressed on this thread. Americans... if you want to express your outrage that you or your buddy were released instead of "foreigner" (or "foreigns" as some of the more knuckle-dragging of you have put it) consider that SLB is a GLOBAL company. It will NEVER have only Americans working in the US anymore than it will have only Angolans working in Angola or Russians working in Russia. Accept this is as being as certain as death and taxes. Special shout out to Pissed Off Mannn, Sony is a Japanese company that damn near single-handedly buried US electronics manufacturing in the 1980's. And while the originators of many of the other companies you rattled off are American in origin..... do you think they have risen to prominence solely based on US talent??? Get real!!! Newsflash Anonymous185126; it's "eliminating", not "illuminating". If you're going to sow the seeds hate, at least do so with some modicum of intelligence. For the many of you who are so upset about "foreigners" working here... please jump into the nearest time machine and go back to the 1700s and ask some REAL Americans (Native Americans) about how thrilled they were with European foreigners. Then jump ahead to the 1800's and ask someone how awesome it was to have waves of Irish and Italian immigrants "taking American jobs". America as you know and believe to be so great would NOT be the America you have the privilege to live in w/o foreign workers. From the Irish and Chinese who built the Trans-Continental Railroad to the great scientists who fled Nazi-occupied Europe and helped the Allies win World War II, this country has developed and prospered thanks to, not in spite of, "foreigners". I've worked with both conscientious and worthless employees of all different backgrounds. Laziness knows no geographic, cultural, gender or ethnic bounds. Have great people (both American and "foreign") been released? Absolutely! Are there people still @ SLB who aren't worth spitting on? You bet! Chalk it up to luck, butt-kissing, connections, whatever. Anyone's individual perceptions of "fair" are irrelevant. It's business, and the business will do what it wants to do. And SLB owes none of us anything.
