Are you guys laying off Assistant Managers?

The company did a wholesale cut in payroll expense. They eliminated the Assistant Mgr. position and some were offered a demotion to a new position called "parts pro". As a GM for this company, I understand the pressure the ivory tower faces from Wall St. to show a profit. It is sad to think that the way we have to show a profit is to eliminate or reduce payroll expense of people who have invested their career with us. This is sure to help the bottom line, but what about the future and our bench of qualified people for promotion to GM? Long term is where this could be an unwise investment. Many of these employees who were offered demotion and pay cuts are looking for other jobs right now. We have lost their loyalty, which we need in an environment where team work and a positive attitude make all the difference to our sales results.
If they didn't agree to step down and take a paycut they would recieve a 2 week severance. Some were not asked to step down and just let go, most likely they were not up to the CEO'S money requirement. (Some i am sure should go) They better get rid if the sales per hour, or more will go cause they hit the mark. Funny hiw they have the sales goals per employee pay rates that actually add uo to MORE then the stores overall daily goal. Pathetic loosers. I cant wait to find anither job!!!!!!!
