Thread regarding Cameron International Corp. layoffs

V&M

Anyone else hearing rumors that V&M will be spun off? Have heard this from one of our largest distributors.

To set the record straight, valves is not losing money, and is profitable. Doesn't mean SLB would have them spun off, but the division is a profitable business.

Everyone in the industry is saying to look for SLB to sell off V & M. V & M has been struggling financially and it doesn't fit into SLB's portfolio of equipment and services. Rumors are that G.E. or FlowServe (or possibly even Emerson) will buy V & M. They may sell V & M as a whole or they may sell the Valves group and the Measurement group separately. I agree it is not likely that they will separate DSV and EPV after integrating the two into one and laying off all of the "spare parts" left over.

they were bundled to reduce cost structure and sell. Business 101. If sold to a like valve company, as Cameron used to do, they are really only buying the brands and machine floor space (if needed). BM

Doubt they would split DSV and EPV after integrating both groups.

Heard it yesterday for the first time from a supplier that is well connected. Doesn't mean it's true.......but it wouldn't surprise me at this point.
