Is it too late now? How about the next round. All of this is assuming that I stay after Nov 20 (which is both possible and likely).

I know someone that volunteered to be laid off and was given a severance package. They talked to their boss's boss several weeks ago.
I guess you are counting on severance package for some quick money.
