Kids and families are yesterday's news. "Wellness" is where it's at! Target hasn't decided what wellness means yet, but the consultants thought it sounded good.
Who needs kids when you've got organic okra to sell the childless hipsters?!?!

Oh stop, 154531 - it isn't corporate greed to GIVE 1 Biliion dollars to a cause. It's greedy when corporations choose not to give any money back to their communities. Target isn't going to stop giving, they are redirecting where the money goes which is a donor's option - the same as when YOU signed up for the employee giving campaign this summer - you chose where your contibution would be focused. If Target''s new giving supports the rejuvination of the playground in my neighborhood I think it will do my community a world of good - and will achieve the 'Wellness' goal. Our playground has been loved to death.
Corporate greed wins again. They never care about education. That's why we can't find enough skilled people and we need to import talent from overseas to fill key positions...
Target can switch-up the program now and generate publicity, plus unlike Education, Target can monetize Wellness. I go to three grocery stores a week to get the best deals on food I will spend time cooking and want to feed my family - I NEVER buy produce at Target. If they play Wellness right, the produce won't be as tired, there will actually be three leeks on the shelf at the same time, I may take advantage of the extra discount and try the fresh foods at Target.... that's the beauty of the Wellness campaign, it could be a win-win. I hope they succeed.
They announced that ahead of Fall National Meeting of course to let the negative get out there, then tout FitBits and discounts for employees (which ultimately is for them to increase sales/profits), and then Talkapalooza today to talk about some young hip company they've partnered with to make themselves look better.
This is specific to TCOE. (The TAKE CHARGE OF EDUCATION initiative) The 1% rebate a school you chose would get from your RED card spending. This was started (1997) when Target's Visa rolled out as a giving/marketing program to entice mom's to get credit. It's way post peak. I also remember "safeness" it really amounted to a PR campaign for AP to justify the enormous $$$ they were spending on payroll.
Can someone clarify what education policies have been eliminated. Is this the donations to local schools based on guest shopping or team member reimbursement
No worries at this rate Target will not be around in 15 years or possibly 2 years!
Sounds like "safeness" from my Asset Protection days from 1993 - 2004. I loved working in AP with Target, stated catching shoplifters for 6 bucks an hour in the deep south and ended up in MN "DHC" with a real career. My new job, since i have been at TGT has a horrible education reimbursement policy, and an even worse vacation accrual
policy, but also has a future.
Good Luck, social security is only 15 years away.
