Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

How about the WARN notice?

Isn't the company required to provide the federally mandated WARN notice for any significant layoff? I don't recall one from

'13.

I was laid off in '13...the WARN notice was part of the severance. So really, even though they told us they didn't need us anymore, we were on active payroll the first two months of the 3 month severance, so we couldn't get unemployment until after the first 60 days.

Database of OK warn notices, searchable by company name, is available at www.okjobmatch.com

I don't remember getting a personal copy of the WARN notice ??? I thought it just had to be filed with the Labor Commission and that was Public Notification to all. If I recall, I read about it in the newspaper.

Yes, there was a WARN notice ahead of time in 2013.

@153616 is correct, while everyone interpreted the severance package as 3 months salary, it was actually 1 month salary, plus the 60 day WARN requirement, which was basically 90 days pay. They could file, then have everyone work 2 months knowing layoffs were pending, but they just do it the same day as layoffs and kick everyone out.

I think you get the notice the same day you get laid off. I believe the severance package fulfills CHKs obligations under the WARN act.
