Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Need accountability! 810 team got promoted after their blunders

design bug on A57, terrible planning towards power optimization in PD.

Project crashes and burns, and the design lead becomes sr. Director, PE becomes VP.

Both should have been fired but got promoted instead. What the heck!

Promoting these guys at this level given the magnitude of failure is in ethical.... Promotion to VP level are based on results and not effort. They are paid high enough to produce results. HR and legal needs to investigate this unjustified promotion!

Don't rid them. But at least don't promote 2 months after the screw up. Was such a bad example to set. Success or fail, the leads get promoted. Now if this was someone lower on the level, I am sure he/she would have been dinged in the review.

Regrding the chinese dispute...Well we did the replacement with that dude (whatever his name was)

Regarding 810 the guys leading the project are leads on other technical areas. You dump them then you dump critical parts of QCT too. Just rid the PMs

@3233. The fact that you are comparing this external (out of our control) issues with internal (totally in our control) Q project management failures is a testament to how undeserved your promotion to this level is... I am assuming the poster is one of the guy who got the promotion..... If my assumption is incorrect, poster please get a clue....

Holding accountable is one thing and promoting despite of the failure of the project is another. The latter is rewarding someone, former is penalizing.... The promotion does not seem to be justified...

Was anyone held accountable for being unable to navigate Chinese trade laws?

Billion dollar mistake there and maybe Europe too right?

"There are more things than that meet the eye.".... Regardless....we should be in this together. One of the major reasons we are in this state is due o us look loosing business... Dont care what else is behind the screen...its pretty simple we are loosing business ...letsnotpromote folks for whatever they are doing behind the screen (unless of course it affects the bottom line and preventing need for this this major layoff). We should stick together and take the hit...imo these promotions should have been deferred... This just plainly looks bad and spreads bad morale.

This is really low! I'm appalled. Everything else was bad, but kind of "corporation" style. But this one, this is just plain dirty. Disgusting!

Yup.. When we loose sockets and business managed by these Dir/sr Dir, they get promoted ...regardless of the failure and having caused us to loose huge business........ Where as engineneers get their meager bonuses/raise deferred when their efforts dont show immedeate results.. This is absolutely horrible....
