Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Alligator tears

QCOM engineers have been making lots of money. All I see is alligator tears in regards to future layoffs. You guys are much better than other folks in the same profession.

Anonymous153154. If you can avoid it, I wouldn't recommend Intel as your first choice, simply because they also suffer from large company bureaucracy. However if you have a contact here and can get you in, at least consider it, if only temporary. Sometimes you got to take a temporary shit job to move ahead

And for most people a shit job can still be better than no job.

Do you know that Intel engineers are avoided in Silicon Valley Hiring? The reason is that they work under hierarchical project management. Everything is about hierarchy, from project architecture to functional block development. Every engineer is assigned a small part of the project so that meeting deadline is ensured. Project managers sit around talking about risk management all day long. To reduce risk, parallel teams execute on the same projects. Wait, it almost sounds like QC. For a long time, there were relatively few QC engineers looking job outside. But now there are thousands. The rest of the chip industry is slowly learning the way of QC, and conclusion is one similar to Intel.

And no, I no longer work at the Q. But I do care lot about what happens to good people in general. The moment I got headcount, I pertaining will be hiring as many good people as I can. Just need to finish this quarter.

I think the truth is that a lot of that don't work at the Q are just jealous and hoping for others to suffer. Its probably a reflection of your own outlook. Kinda sad. Did some molest you when you were a kid?

Lets be honest.

QC (excluding qct) has a reputation for catering to spoiled "children" who don't really work that hard, lack social grace, and have an undeserved sense of entitlement. If you have not stayed relevant and maintained ties with non QC colleagues you are potentially in for a rude awakening Welcome to reality. The real world is not so forgiving when you have lived high on the hog and lost your humility.

According to salary.com, a typical QC engineer is paid 4 to 6% more than an average pay in SD region? Is that the robbery you are talking about? Come on...

as in "homeless people in America are richer than homeless people in most other countries." You guys have been paid really well by QCOM compared to the rest of the workforce. The savings for rainy days are probably very huge.
