Worked in QCT from 2004 to 2012 - moved to Microsoft in Redmond, WA after that.
I am not saying that life is perfect over here, yet much happier than I was the last 2 years I was at QCT.
Actually pretty impressed in the decisive way Microsoft did their RIF's in 2014 and 2015 - first with Nokia and then to a lesser extent with Windows Phone. Admittedly most of those affected were outside of Redmond, but HR conveyed the message very decisively if somewhat impersonally.
People had to clear their desks the very next day and lost access - but did get 2 months WARN + 1 month for everybody + 2 weeks for every year (total capped at 40 weeks though for total severance cash amount) + 6 months of paid health insurance coverage + all RSU's due till Dec 31st (considering this took place in July for both years) immediately vesting.
Satya our current CEO seems to talk to the point with no BS with reasonable portrayals of our strengths and weaknesses. I see very little of the institutional sycophancy and pointless showmanship/shenanigans that Ballmer had with more emphasis on execution and getting things done. A lot of things have turned around for the better.
All things considered, very glad that Mollenkopf was not hired as Microsoft CEO though not sure if he bluffed his way to Qualcomm CEO spot.
