I was just over at UCSD...they starting d to have weekend and overtime imaging.....I guess with covered California, there are so many patients now, that they have to run a second and third shift over weekends

This isn't unusual. There are always a lot of people on weekends. Especially in ER and Urgent Care. The rate of stupidity apparently increases after midnight on Fridays.
And if you are an unskilled worker that can't find a job, maybe you should consider getting a Nursing degree and becoming an RN. The pay isn't bad especially when you factor in overtime.
The point is if you're getting RIFed at the Q and you are in IT, maybe you should look in IT for healthcare...And you're an embedded hardware/software person, maybe you should look at medical device companies. Because that's where the growth is going to be.
