Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Target Actively Soliciting for Scrum Masters

I worked (if that can even describe what I did there) on .com and Infrastructure Engineering. My contract was terminated long before all of the layoffs and such went down.

Today I get a LinkedIn invite to connect with someone who is "very impressed with background" and asked if I would ever be interested in coming back to Target as a Scrum Master.

I think I'll stay right where I am, thanks.

I am also a former Target contractor. I left in 2013 and was there for 10 months on 3 different projects. I too laugh at the emails trying to recruit me to go back there... In my opinion, Target is paralyzed by their project processes. IF they knew how to implement Agile, but they have so many people that have been there for so long they can't see any other way of doing things for the sake of getting them done. 1 of the projects that I was on that tried to implement Agile, missed the biggest point.... Smaller teams - to get things done is how you get things done faster and less expensive. Easily spent 3x what the project should have cost!!!

They let go all of the level 15 PMs on my team in March, all of whom were acting as scrum masters (and certified) at the time. They were let go because their titles were "Project Manager". Openings were then created for "Scrum Masters". One of the most ridiculous things I've seen in my work career.

It shows the disconnect and how they failed to recognize who did what.
