Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

Get a Grip

These are hard times for all of us, now is the time to weed out the slackers and re structure each location. I hear all the time its a paycheck!!! Each one of us at Weatherford has a job to do and we must do it well if we are going to survive. Blame who you want, but the truth of the matter is do your job and do it to the best of your ability and stop all of this crying!!!!!!! If you dont like it go somewhere else!!!!!! Some of us love our jobs and the people we spend each day with, we will do whatever it takes to get thru these hard times and in the end who knows, but i will know that I have done everything possible to hold up my end of the deal and possibly make a difference in make or break. So instead of spending time here critisizing everyone do your job!!!! And do it well.

Sounds like you just think the alligator will eat you last. Good luck to you. I wish I had all those Saturdays and Sundays back while on salary. I also wish a worthless lazy supervisor didn't take over my job.

No one ever said life was going to be fair. It's just business. It's their game and their rules. If you don't like it, start your own company and try to compete. Or go in to another market that's not so volatile. Get over it. Quit blaming and complaining. Find me one successful person that didn't suffer hardships. If you spent less time whining on here and more time working you wouldn't be unemployed. Grow up.

You heard what management said: "So instead of spending time here critisizing everyone do your job!!!! And do it well." , nice try management , now go back to snoozing in your office and make sure when the snacks come in during the day they will wake you up in time for your daily feeding at the management party trough.

Pass me a donut, In what universe is a company looking out for YOUR interest? It's business and it's shitty but it's not about saving your ass, it's about the company's survival. Go sit down somewhere.

Well done a good motivational management post I'm sure I've heard a similar speech before from my manager who then went back to his office closed the door and done the same as us all day NOTHING.If you think hard work and loyalty gets you anywhere in WFT then you're deluded anyone with 1 year plus service will know recognition and promotion only comes to those within the managers circle sad but true! That's how many of us are just happy to take the salary giving back as little as possible.

I was just let go this Tuesday. I came into the shipping department and put 3 years of my life into Weatherford. Every time the weekend came and the manager asked for help to come, I was the first to say yes. When our 'team" was asked to offer help in various departments, I took the initiative to search to see who needed help. Most recently, I was asked to travel to help with production or inventory at other locations. I never said no. My wife understood the value of being a hard worker and keeping the learning experience open. I did anything and everything for the last 3 years. I even felt bad to take vacation days!! So, i'm not sure why I was released/laid off. I left on good terms, could have raised hell but chose not to. All this boils down to $$. It's better to keep TEMPS on than a full time employee. The numbers say it all. I'm sort of glad that I was let go. After seeing worthless people get promoted to higher positions that they had no understanding of. I have no hate towards Weatherford just wish I would have received a better reason than, "because the price oil and we are restructuring. That this cut was the hardest for us". Bullshit!!

Right on 150685. If Weatherford would take the time to get rid of the ones who are useless instead of going down a list, I could understand but instead they got rid of hard working people. I hate how the one guy who had been with the company for over 30 years was stuck in different departments working where he was needed was let go and you got a worthless used to be manager who was demoted due to incompetence keep their job and all they due is sit in a back office scratching their worthless balls. Disgusting. You have some that call off or come in late ALL the time. But let's cut this guy with the perfect attendance.

I agree. At this location there are people who sit around all day when they could be helping others, sleep on the job, hide is restrooms to get out of working. Supervisors have been caught sleeping multiple times, threaten workers with write ups for things they themselves are guilty of on a daily basis.

How dare you, "slackers" really some people who have given their lives to this company have gotten laid off, missed kids birthdays, worked sick, worked holiday's and you have the nerve to say slackers. You might want to rethink that statement, yes in any company their are some employees that are here for the check. But to make a blanket statement saying get rid of the slackers is tough to stomach.

Yes every location needs to be weeded out. Way too many "supervisor/managers being paid way too much while they do nothing.

I love your attitude...It's something that is very rare in Weatherford these days and I hope it's enough to keep you safe during these times. I have to say I had a similar attitude as yours many months ago when I was still working at Weatherford and I had the same attitude for over 2 decades while I was employed with them. I had planned to carry on and retire with them some years from now but that was not meant to be. I don't blame the company as a whole I blame the management structure. I have always had excellent performance reviews and I have always tried to be a good employee but I don't know were I went wrong. I only thing I see is that I was in some way a threat to management and they used this time to get rid of me. I really can't understand the people that they kept, Many had written warnings, some should have been outright terminated and all would bash Weatherford in every second breath yet they still have jobs and they still are safe. I hope this story makes you think a little bit about your career with Weatherford and I hope you can maintain your attitude should you be laid off.
