Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Good luck, remain positive

I just wanted to provide a note of encouragement ahead of what could be a pretty tough week in TTS. I was laid off from Target in March, and it was the best thing that could have happened to me. I am now doing the same job for another company, I am at a level that would have required 2 or 3 promotions at Target, and I got a bump in salary. Two of 6 people that were laid off with me from my team got better positions as well, and the others found a lateral position.

If you find yourself affected by upcoming layoffs, remain positive. Go about the job search as if it were your full time job (or, take some time off to unwind first and then jump into the job search). Good things will happen. Stop listening to the garbage that is posted on this site. If your separation agreement includes career consulting with Right Management, take advantage of that, their consultants and website have a huge amount of useful information. Get your resume and Linkedin profile polished and start selling yourself. Network with everyone you can, and ask them for additional people to network with. Right Management has a ton of information to help you with all of this.

Don't look back, don't drag yourself down by worrying about why Target did what they did or whether Brian Cornell is a good CEO or not. Who cares? Move on and stay positive. Stay off this stupid website and keep your chin up. You own your future, make it happen.

Glad to hear you've found new job and it's working out well for you. Thanks for the encouraging words. We'll get through this here at TGT or beyond. Life is too short to let this hold us down.

Be thankful for each day.... as it's gift.

Take care.

This is the single best post I've seen on this site. I'm in TTS now and have been counting down the days. As much stress as I've had, I'm positive that better things are ahead (at Target or in a new adventure). I had a lot of friends leave in March. Those I keep up with have landed great jobs and have taken what they learned here and applied to bigger and better roles. I wish everyone the best of luck in what lies ahead.
