By Using engineering manager post... TI may going to hold back many useless managers... These managers are going to continue screwing target... With no productivity... And they are so much irritation, they will not even let engineers work properly... Please don't keep this post...

Best way to screw up target is retain all kmg and lmg leaders. That's what happening in target now. There is one saying "intelligent people sometimes makes mistakes". It applies to BC as well
If engineering manager has technical back ground and interest then it's ok, however just re packaging existing lot of managers ( DM / SDM ) as engineering Manager ,who does not have any context of latest happening in tech world , will keep thing as it is. In that case Drama will continue same unproductive way just character name will change
I am a technical guy. Did pure technical more than 10 years. The topic in this subject is utter nonsence. Engineer manager is required in any scrum to operate if you know how agile methedology works. Don't talk nonsence...I agree reducing layers and removing too many manager what we have today is essential. But can't get rid of some sensible managers too.
An engineer does coding, least do testing. What does a manager do? making sure engineers don't get visibility, never allow engineers to take decisions on any solution, Waste daily 2 hours of enginers with meetings to take updates and finally having free coffe, food and going home. Magic Mike, please make sure all managers, group managers get layed off. Give all responsibilities to engineers and make sure engineers work judged dependent on how much they work rather than how much they talk.
We don't need a people manager in Target We are not school kids. In the name of management all they doing is decreasing productivity, creating layers between engineers and business. If managerial posts are going to remain, scrum model is not going to work. All engineers will try to work only when managers are in office. Funny thing is that managers take 2 days work from home, one day off and if they come to office they leave by 4 pm....... Beat them on that... God should save Target if they keep managers...
Honestly – most technical people are horrible people managers. You don't generally find both skill sets in a person. A broad general background sure but in depth absolutely not, or you have no one to manage people. Yeah… Can you imagine a coder as a manager OMG. They have the people skills of a cardboard box .
For Really being Engineering Company.. Target Please replace all the directors with Engineering Directors and KMG's with technical people. They should be people who would have worked in technical roles in various other organizations like Amazon,Google,Facebook,Intel etc etc. They should be having responsibility of innovation rather than relaying what teams are doing.

I know the previous post was written by one mindless manager / lmg/km who were recruited by useless target recruiters. Unfortunately target recruiters doesn't know selecting right people. Remove existing junk at all levels of non technical roles and give opportunity to talented people who are not only good at talking but also technically strong.
could you please suggest which positions to keep... u guys don't want engineering manager, no KMG, no director, no VP, no EVP... so only Developers and BC.. all developers directly report to BC? ... come on guys..be realistic
