Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

Layoffs are starting next week. I've heard this will be larger than 2013 reductions.

I was hot once.....in my 20s. Sighs.....way back before I had a kid.

Need to keep some of the hot ass around though. Seeing the talent show in/out of the fitness center everyday is my motivation to make it through the afternoon.

I'd love it if they laid off enough people to get all the rest of us into one building. I've moved offices 8 times in two years and I hate the whole campus thing. Can't I just take an elevator or the stairs to talk to someone outside my BU instead of busting my butt clear to the other side of this college look a-like facility.

I sure hope they do it all at once, even if the go low class and notify via email. Dont spread it out over a few days/weeks like the last fubar layoff just do it and be done.

@HR, good to know. I'll be on the lookout for the Men In Black today. Thanks for the information.

@ 142811 - The WARN act does not require CHK keep employees on site for the 60 day notice period. As has been mentioned before, CHK can ship you off today if they want to...you would still be paid for the 60 day "notice period" though. The 2013 layoff was not 3 months of severance - it was the 2 month WARN required notice plus 1 month of severance.

People are just guessing to keep the anxiety level high. I'm just going to keep working until they tell me I gotta go. No need to worry so much, I would expect the decision is made and nothing we can do to change it. It has been my pleasure working here and if I'm let go then I hope I find something I like as much as I like it here.

Compliance?? Never heard of it.

If they are going to be on par with the 13' reorg, I would think the WARN act would apply and notice would have already been given. Unless of course there are some loopholes which would exclude CHK from compliance. Actually, based on our compliance record we'll probably just blow that off too.

Correct that it is starting next week? Or correct that they will be larger in number than 2013? Or percentage?
