Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Manager/senior manager/KMG/LMG role at TI after Transformation

I heard that designations will change as part of transformation and this transformation is mainly to eliminate number of non technical roles. Also, i heard all managers , senior managers and LMG (non sense people like RD Komara...) will be moved to technical roles. These people enjoyed lavish life so far at Target. more over these folks are not at all involved in technical skills . Why navneet kapoor wants to screw up Target India once again by converting these non technical people into Technical roles ? Does it make sense ? Top management will realize their mistake when a big program level initiative fails. I am not at all against these non technical people but NC has to think practically. Also, to safeguard near and dear ones lot of politics are happening at KMG and above level. What is the need for politics. we are eating Target money and don't we think doing politics results in loosing of good people ? Rumor is that managers who are close to KMG's will be retained and who are have sound technical and management skills will be fired saying who don't have right positions for you.

Some senior group managers at TI don't have communication skills and on top of that they conduct all DR meetings frequently and will read out all the mails sent by Brain and Mike as if this guy only drafted mails for BC and Mike.

Totally agree with previous post. Drawback for TI is LMG, KMG and few directors and at the same time we have very few good directors but unfortunately they failed to have good people under them.

Why blame only RD? Are the other LMG's any good? cant even think of naming everyone here, the list is too long. They are more interested in FFF activities and pleasing their DMG. By the way how's your Jenga team doing?

The KMG, RG got promoted without doing any work. the only project he was associated with failed miserably. But then he is the go to KMG in the group. They even hired a new KMG. For what? Cant SB manage a small team? or was it because the DMG did not want a non KMG reportee?

Half of the teams are sitting idle and the MPLS leadership thinks they are super busy. I can only blame MPLS leadership for turning a blind eye.

i don't see how KMG's in MPLS are different. They are equally useless and don't know anything what their team is working on except that they can communicate and pretend as if they know some stuff... if you give them a true problem...they can't solve it...

I think Target India KMG should not worry , as they can open event management company , once they are fired , that is what they have done all along the years in TI.

Some people became SDM by doing non sense initiatives " Development ROAD RULES" ....some MPls people traveled all the way to inform coding rules of development while 80% coding was done through contractors on whom no one had control !!

Totally agree. TI leadership is always fraud. All talented people will be screwed by delivery managers or non technical layers. Converting non technical layers in to technical roles is gamble played by directors to safe guard their own roles. If you do not have layers you do not need director. This is all gamble. Just remove all delivery managers , senior delivery mgrs, KMG, Director. Absolute fraud and fake hierarchy. TI is like reverse pyramid. Big fat pigs sitting on top of technical people. No shame leadership ....just get free money. Doing nothing. You non technical folks are eating our food and then sit in cafeteria... Conduct useless meetings. God only save TI. Not sure when will Brian realize. The gamble is non technical layers first gets the critical work module information and then slowly position themselves by conducting meetings with mpls partners behaving as if every deliverable is happening due to their dedication at TI. Absolute b.s. In order to survive, all on tech layers including directors pester or harass technical people for the information so that they can write some good emails with technical info extracted from engineers. Why cant Brian remove non technical layers. This is been happening at TI for the past 10 years. It requires lot of patience and derogatory humiliation to work at TI. This mess is created by TI leadership.. And the company is struggling to come out of this infinite loop.

two years my appraisal was screwed by my manager saying you are technically strong and your feedback from MPLS partners is also great but only thing is you are not doing extra activities and no one from KMG level knows about you.... Promotions are not based on performance but based on extra activities. they are least bothered about project success.

Don't blame managers... I agree that most of them got promoted to next levels because of performing non project related stuff.. If some one has to be blamed for current situation of Target then right person should be Beth.Jacob , Greg and NC. I remember my manager was technically sound when he joined but later he was forced not to do technical activities rather focus on leading 4 team members...

Yep..talented people will be targeted and junk will become engineering managers and will get promoted soon. I am curious If non technical people becomes technical then who will take care of FFF activities , pot luck , NGO events ? Not sure how these people get promoted since no more FFF / pot lucks ?
