I saw 90% of the SA's I knew there train their H1B replacements from India and then be let go. it started about 5 years after I joined, and by the time I left there, I knew less than 5 SA's who were born in the US, out of a plant that had 1000's of employees in 15 buildings. I knew at least 15 of the SA's by name, well enough that we all went to lunch together at times, and another 10-15 by "nod in the hallway" association. all gone. what a scam.

Hired in 1971 left in 1991 with a package. Started my own consulting firm and never got put out again. Thanks IBM for teaching me how to make it on my own. It was great while it lasted.
I bet this happens in every profession. If an employer feels they can let go of their well paid and trained workforce for a cheaper workforce that can be trained to perform at an acceptable level, they are going to do it. That is how companies show profit when they are struggling, by cutting costs.

As a former IBM employee, I can vouch for the fact that IBM is one of the biggest abusers of this. I don't think I had ever had a bigger smile on my face when I accepted a new position and left there.
