Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

What teams in PEG are being axed? Are the teams being dropped fully or people are being cherry picked? Locations?

I used to think Intel is a very stable company? Wtf.

You'll never know when the next layoff will occur. Expect crummy holiday sales to trigger another house cleaning. Guaranteed

I believe BK when he said today that there are no big layoffs planned.

Correct, only 100's in each site like last one. If we start to believe what CEO's say we are in trouble. All he cares is his $M bonuses.

Yep, plan the VSPs, then let the unplanned ISPs occur.

Recipie for your future: Get a degree in biochemistry or similar. Join a biotechnology startup to invent a new pill Then raise price 5000 percent. Pay off the political dudes to make import from India illegal and health coverage mandatory. Better still, skip inventing anything and run for office.

Newbies may not know much, but Intel does not have to pay as much for them. Also, RCGs are more likely to put in more hours, have fewer medical/family leave, etc. It's all about what Intel believes you bring to the table vs the cost to have you around.

You know what I find scary, 176064? Those newbs are our future, and don't mean just those at Intel either.

Good thing I'm not in PEG.... Also, why do you think employees with 20 years are worthless? Most of the newbies I've had the honor of spinning up have zero work ethic or don't know squat.

or.... move on before you get a tap on the shoulder. That will save you some bitterness if you end up on 'the list'.

Yep, all of the lawsuits proposed by last ISP folks regarding age discrimination went absolutely nowhere. Please spend your time more wisely than to be disgruntled and bitter if it happens to you. Just move on. Intel is not the Mecca of eng employment.

Why does this make sense for ISP >20, VSP<15.. Opens them up for legal action

Having worked at other high tech companies, I see Intel with way too many lifers who will never retire or quit even though their contributions are limited and they are grade 7 or higher. So, yes, it makes sense that Intel needs to do these VSP/ISP/etc often.

@175766 asking "why just PEG?" It's ALWAYS been this way. Individual groups make the decision at different times. It's just the way it works. Who knows who might be discussing their next ISP/VSP/redeployment/whatever. Could be IT, CCG, etc., etc. My point is.... different groups make the decision at different times for a variety of reasons. So if this rumor is true.... that's "why just PEG" at this time. Sounds like they cuold be next up to bat to me (if the rumor is true. I know nothing of such matters. No inside info here).

Why just PEG? Cuts should be across the board. Intel still bloated with lots of deadwood.

The company changed when Grove left & Barrett assumed the helm. It's been going downhill ever since.

Confirmed. ISP if 20+ years. VSP if less than 12. Source: corporate

Anonymous175062 Is correct. I have not made any decisions yet. I may go with anybody who's been at Intel over 20 years will be on ISP. It's difficult for me to see how these long term folks can benefit Intel in any way to justify their current total compensation.

Just spoke to BK. He said he hasn't made up his mind about the numbers. He will draw a number from 1 to 20 later. He's even thinking of doing a reality show with a live drawing. The show will help to generate some extra revenue.

If you have no info about specific of layoff, then why do you assume there is one? I wouldn't worry about it until there's substantive info to back up the rumor. If there really are layoff, then wait until someone leak it to a credible media instead of paying attention to anonymous posters here.

Because Intel has not grown, the only thing keeping the stock price up is the dividend. Employees subtract from the dividend, and therefore, must be eliminated.
