If someone knows something that I should know more about, I would be a fool not to attend the presentation and maybe ask questions. QCOM's management are a bunch of jerks. I feel obligated to take as much knowledge with me as possible when I go. And also, to give top presenters excellent feedback so they can shove it in their PM's face if the PM downgrades them on that project for the next review/lay-off cycle.
Dude, Qtech was nonsense for years. What did they do with it? Had to submit cryptic posters to get in. Did it for 5 years. Then got bored. No one noticed either ways. Worth nothing.
As long as Qtech has existed, it was not my thing. While I was in graduate school and while I was working at Qualcomm, publications and conferences were not my thing (you do the work and you move on). However, while I was at Qualcomm my experience is that some people working at Qualcomm enjoy presenting what they have done to other people working at Qualcomm. Boycotting Qtech in an attempt to punish Qualcomm would only punishes the people that did the work.
