Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

The future

So those let go pick up your heads. Having CHK is a good thing for a resume in the OKC area, just don't expect to stay in the industry. And those left, December looks like the next round so work diligently as your performance is being watched like never before.

There are so many out of work landmen in the area, I get 50 plus resumes a day, and today i have over 100 and its just now 10 AM. I work for one of the biggest and we aren't hiring. Not that there are not incredible individuals out there but we are looking at cuts ourselves, as most others.

The joke is, So you're a landman, what restaurant do you work at? And that's not too far from the truth, the industry is in a massive downturn not seen for three decades and this is the beginning of a multi year cycle. My advice is go sell cars, go teach, go get a vocational skill. Point being if this is your first dip in the industry well welcome to the oil and gas business. Get yourselves another skill, vocation, job. Because this industry you don't have a career, you have jobs that God willing last years or even decades. But until oil is back above said break point price (different for all, we are 65.77), don't delude yourself. Get out there and make something happen! Wait long enough and the good jobs get taken, swallow your pride and know for 99% of you, you did nothing wrong and these changes are out of your control. So get back in control as we all have bills to pay and mouths to feed.

Good advice from Anon!

Strategic planning and equity financing is not the business model for OK energy companies.

The tragedy of this mismanagement is the effect on young families and communities. Even with generous tax breaks these companies can't hold it together long term!

Next round in December? How the hell would you know? You don't even work at CHK.

The rest of your post is good, but the mental masturbation about another round of layoffs does nothing but raise the anxiety level of those who are left.
