Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

Who's to blame?

Don't be mad at Lawler. Be made at those guys in DC that sat and watched as OPEC declared they were going to put North American oil and gas producers out of business.

Lawler is a puppet with multiple strings. Guy has done nothing to make CHK better. Congrats to old Archie "Done 'Em In" Dunham and Icahn! Well played.

Getting low oil prices should be the goal of government. A slow decrease in the price of oil should also be the goal of you as an oil worker if you have a conscience. I understand your bias, but the worlds standard of living rises dramatically when energy is affordable. A doctor doesn't want a cure-all for his practice as a doctor but he should want it as a christian and a human being. Of all the things to complain to the government about, actually letting free markets work and costs come down is maybe the stupidest thing to argue against.

Most of the U.S., including the politicians in Washington, are all too happy to see oil prices collapse. It's good for re-election because it keeps fuel costs down for consumers, and lowers costs for businesses (cheaper to transport goods). The oil and gas industry is really the only one hurt by low oil prices; most of the nation prefers to have it that way.

You mean the same people we as a country send BILLIONS of dollars to because we're buying their shit and propping up their governments? USA is in it for the long con tho - Saudi oil is drying up and we're just brining our shale oil reserves online. There will be a dip but it'll hurt SA worse than it'll hurt the USA. CHK is proof of this - look at what happened in the 80s and 90s.
