Some of the rigs were built just for Devon with a 3-6 year contract. It would cost the company more money to lay those down. For example, NM has 6 contract rigs and OK has 3...so thats 9 rigs that must keep pumping.
NM has 10 but is laying down one in the next week or two
How many rigs did Devon have when things were good?
New Mexico laid down all their rigs?
Permian has 9 going right now, Wyoming has 2, and Oklahoma has 5 or 6. Not sure about the Eagle Ford since BHP runs them for us.
where are most of the rigs that are still working
With 19 rigs running and more to be laid down about 4000 out of the 5600 employees are useless.
I hope it happens soon. Tired of seeing so many useless folks.
