This site is what it is. Posts are anonymous and obviously there is no qualifier to submit comments. Hell, it's not like everyone who posts are employees. Some who may have worked for COP, or Burlington, or Phillips or Long John Silvers. It wouldn't take much for some random person to get a name and start spewing it online. The act that nice posts are read less and replied to less is the majority of people use this site to vent. People are pissed it has come to this, and messing with someone's livelihood is very personal. So they lash out at the mofos they feel are responsible for this. Life isn't fair, the layoff process doesn't appear fair, so take this site for what it is. A cathartic release. You want help? See a counselor, financial planner, COP HR, whatever floats your boat.

And guess what? You've worked beside these people all along. You don't think this situation might turn a mild mannered person into a mean, hostile and anonymous blogger? Try it!

What I find disturbing is some harmless post with POSITIVE comments have less vieweing and comments than whereas comments with extremely offensive stuff are the number one rant rage. . It almost seems to me there is a deliberate effort going on here to wear us down and make us turn on each other. . We are all struggling and yes at times need to vent but why use personal names in hopes to destroy each other.

Please keep the discussion relevant and non offensive. Reading through the nasty language makes me sad when realizing I work with simple minded individuals that would destroy someone's reputations based on stupid post such as these. Embarrassed to say I work side by side some of you.

The culture starts at the top...with Glenn "The Pirate" Schaff! The same team that brought us Magnolia and more unsuccessful fishing and sidetrack attempts than any other operator in the GoM. Killing the GoM and deepwater program was the right decision, but too many photos and favors existed to eliminate the root of the problem...poor management and employees!

The Permian Unconventional Development and D&C organizations have cost the company hundreds of millions of dollars. They successfully blamed the surface facility projects organization last year and were able to gut the organization and bring in the new "Major Capital Screwups" team and process, but the same tactic should not work with Terri! Sever the entire team and start all over or sell...the culture of parasitic brown-nosing (aka, "networking") starts with Mabee and permeates the rest of this totally dysfunctional bunch of whiners. If Patterson, Mabee, Westerman and Smalstig think tank them high, then you know that they are part of the problem!

It is true, and the transfer of unethical and inappropriate behavior to the Permian Unconventional was achieved by bringing in the same idiots to run D&C and now projects. It all starts with blind or/and weak management at the top who are only interested in achieving numbers to save their own asses. Permian Unconventional is definitely the worst though, because the incompetence and arrogance now pervades the entire organization!

This is in fact true. Unfortunately field ops in eagle ford asset are some of the dumbest individuals I've ever met. It is all run by folks from Leesville, LA and they are all related. They come to the field to drink and whore around. It's why when there are issues on the rigs they don't come in the evenings. They are drunk.

The only horseshit is what drilling gets away with in all assets. The stupid Safety Ambassador program that recognizes those who successfully hide incidents and ethics violations is a great example. When an organization does not even report "all" incidents and near misses, you know that they are worthless and lazy!

Its typical to call this horseshit especially if you're part of the problem. kill the messenger. You do nothing wrong yet the consequences for reporting wrongful behavior befall on you for speaking out due to a wrongful action. Sometimes people dont want to hear about it, because they are part of the cover up. Those that are reluctant to report wrongdoing by a superior for fear of retaliation, or those in top management violate the rules themselves so "what is the point of reporting it." Right! So if you can't report it than try talking about it so maybe the right person hears about the violation.

Submit an ethics complaint. Or send the information to the board of directors. HR is not the best option to address the noted issues. HR is tasked with protecting the company and the management in the company.
