I hear that some groups that are in Anthem IT will be moved outside of IT structure, there will be some outsourcing of functions. this is affecting only IT, I am not sure if anything will be outsourced on the business side. Why do they always go after IT is puzzling, Anthem is never seeing IT as something that adds value to the company even though a ton of things that we do would never be able to be completed if it was not for IT folks. They also lay off other groups, but IT is always hit very hard when Anthem lays off people. I understand that IT people are typically well paid and that it takes less resources to be laid off to achieve the same level of savings, but there is good reason why they are paid so much as they contribute and add value a lot, so it's good for all insurance companies to hire IT people, not to fire them and lay them off like Anthem is doing now.

Nothing makes sense is a pest who copies and pastes the same post in every thread. If they worked for me, they would be on the "list". Who wants a pest in their team?
Only there two months as a contractor, loved being there, tapped to leave in the next week. Been through this before, everyone should do the best they could to improve skills at Anthem. You were all fortunate to work in a nice place, but get ready for change. Very sorry anyone has to go through this, very sorry.
why are they hiring all these people from india and outsourcing from the philippines? I won't say where I work, but it is one of the larger places and they are also hiring temporaries after the occasional small layoffs. I understand if it was an international corporation such as ikea as an example where they sell products worldwide, but this is an insurance company solely responsible for helping americans. I know for a fact you can get workers in detroit, the desperate areas of west virginia, florida, most parts of los angeles, to do those IT or customer service positions, or anything else at minimum or close to minimum wage if they truly spent the time looking and posting for those positions, if they really needed to pay the minimum to stay afloat. Under the new healthcare act however, everyone must put in for health insurance. The government pays for those who can't from those who can. So I don't get how they can be losing money. The whole issue as I recall was that they would gain more if everyone was insured. So this issue of outsourcing with bringing in people with loopholes in the work visa program, don't make sense. They can keep those that have worked there long without laying off along with hiring those that are desperate for work at minimum wage. I know tons of people that can't find work that would have no problem starting at the bottom if necessary. Again, the company is not hurting, I'm fairly certain in my own view. If everyone is required to have health insurance with the poor getting the benefits from the government if they can't afford it, then how is it that they need to outsource along with hire people through the work visa program also. I know, I wrote a lot. Can someone answer my above questions also.
Good luck all
