Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

Why is Bernard Duroc Danner still in power???

I don't pretend to know much about shareholders. So to all you smart assessment...pissoff. But this man has been CEO since the yearly layoffs started in 2008 what is up with this?????

The answer to your question is quite simple; the power to terminate a CEO resides with the Chairman of the Board of directors.... In most all cases, the CEO is not also the Chairman. However, this is the case in Weatherford. So effectively, Bernard the Chairman would have to fire himself, Bernard the CEO....The only real way for him to be terminated, is by board of director vote (which are people he appoints), or by shareholder approval (of which he holds a ton of shares)....

Expectations? Maybe today, but what explains the last 5 years of complete mismanagement? How many Q's does have to miss on his own forecast?

It's not that simple; as long as he is beating the expectations he'll be in the office. But who knows what these "expectations" are. One thing is certain: shareholders love cost cutting and what better to cut costs than to sack people?

I heard he owns so many shares that can't fire him.

Think its the yearly $10M+ package that keeps him from leaving $13M in 2013 & $14M in 2014 its easy to please shareholders just pay them a good dividend layoffs at WFT have been worse than any other service company 15,000+ and counting good news if your a shareholder bad news if your an employee
