chevron gave its severed employees 2 months notice. WOW. Novel idea. Treat people with respect. Cop walks you out. Won't let you pack your office. Treats people like criminals not the professionals...cop is a joke.

COP are not treating their employees right, that is why they have to resort to these unprofessional tactics. Compare and contrast with Chevron and remember for the upturn.

Check out the Chevron section of this site. Lots of fear, anger and anxiety over there. A lot more postings over on the Chevron section, seems like head cutting is in full progress at all the Chevron upstream units.
Two months notice may not be from the goodness of their hearts. The federal labor laws require 60 days notice (or payment in lieu of notice) when the magnitude of the layoffs reaches a certain size.
Chevron did not give employees 2 months notice. They sent the low performers (rating 2- or below in any of the last 3 years) home and told them they would be getting an email telling them their fate. The people were terminated (and yes they were escorted out of the buildings) last Wednesday with heavy security at 1500 Louisiana and 1400 Smith and had town cars waiting in front of the buildings to take people home for those that were in van pools. This was only one business unit. Other BU's are currently doing ROM's (Resource Optimization Management) and will let many more employees go before year end - estimate is 30%. Severance is not as good as COP as it is only 2 weeks for every year of service with a maximum of 52 weeks. If you are going to talk about other companies, get your facts straight!
