Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Engineer layoffs versus HR layoffs

I bet when layoffs happen a disproportionate amount of layoffs will be all you well educated STEM degreed engineers that worked a lot in school and made a lot of personal sacrifices while in school and while at the Q..Meanwhile, I am confident most of the folks that got that easy liberal arts degree in conversational linguistics or Shakespearian history that work in HR will be immuned from most of the layoffs. Because they know how to ass kiss better than you engineers do. Gotta love the way the world works.. You thought being kicked around as a little nerd by all the non nerds only happened when you were in grade school. Little did you know this sort or ass kicking pretty much happens even while working at a company like the Q. HR 1, Geeks 0.

OP: wait until the evil H.R. ladies can't figure out how their new computers work, because the instructions are online, and there is no manual. Then we'll see how useful that degree in French really is....

So true. Probably the best post I have seen in this site.

Just go to building N, you will see entire floor of uneducated, liberal arts women sitting there and ruining the company.

We engineers are mostly males whereas HR are mainly females who come to work almost naked and know how to please their bosses.

Engineers keep hard working day and night while HR just care about organizing parties and cupcake events!

Their job ends at 5pm while we keep thinking about code bugs and performance improvement even we are out with our friends.

Now, it makes sense for upper management to keep the ladies and girls who know how to please them rather than keeping gloomy engineers.

That's the world unfortunately!

Doesn't feel good that that is the truth does it, my fellow engineers....Good.... Let the burn and fester in your mind really really good...Ask yourself, do you really want to work at places where a significant amount if non technical overhead is more important than you? The nerdy/geeky days of the Q were over once all the marketing/HR Liberl arts people took over the company and spent considerably more time coming up with marketing slogans like "why wait?" Instead of spending time and resources into really engineering next generation products.
