Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Date of next layoff?

When is rumored date of next layoff? Wish HR would see if there would be people that want to leave.

Like I said...read them. They speak of court decisions based on precedence as well as structured programs.

Neither ERISA nor the Fair Labor Standards Act requires that subsequent layoffs have to offer the same severance package as earlier ones. I worked somewhere that had multiple layoffs, and the later layoffs (that occurred as the company got into more and more financial trouble) offered less severance than the first ones.

120478: read up on ERISA and Fair Labors Act.. Precedence is very much real, and Target would be hard pressed to make this package any different than other recent packages.. Even if they have absolutely no written policy at all - period. There's no way - substantiated or not, that they'd want any legal ramifications on something this big. Common sense folks...

To 120460: changing how the severance amounts are calculated would not be considered discrimination - the company can change this practice just as they can change other benefit practices. Show me where it's written anywhere what the severance POLICY is - you have that in writing? If not, then then there probably isn't a policy, they've had a practice that may be changed at the whim of the company. Good luck screaming 'discrimination' if they cut back on the payout.

Shoot !!guys use ur brains if non technical guys got fired and got a surverance then you will be eligible for one too ,or u can sue the company for the discrimination.

119370 - oh yeah, as is WE picked the CISO, CIO. Trust me, a LOT of the people who have been here a while in the trenches (not just you new young turks) saw the train wrecks and spoke up. Contrary to the BTS, leadership has no interest in listening. That said, your overall analysis is pretty spot on. Welcome to corporate America, with 'the smartest people in the room' at the top. What a joke.

Golly, why would a 20 year veteran feel bitter? Just because he probably busted his butt to grow target where it is today, only to see it screwed up by the C suite, see gg walk away with 60 mil for his damage, and then have the ax over his head because he is old (sorry that IS the reason Target is canning people....has nothing to do with performance).

I'm sure the poster (119136) that came down on the vet is a little twerp, with 2 years in max. Hope he/she never gets near managing people.

Way too many people at Target who won't buck the system. The stats que was complacency. COO of canada without any Canada roll out experience, CISO without any security experience, CIO with no technology experience. Complete lack of strategy. Those of us new joins who tried to point out a better path. Prevent the Canada nightmares and the breaches, the poor strategic decisions were the first to get cut. You guys deserve BC, no you earned BC.

Dear pompous ass119136, at least the 20 yr veteran knows how to spell and knows proper grammar (maybe it's your kind that's what is wrong with Target today - people who shoot off their mouths, not knowing what the person you're criticizing did to build the company that YOU somehow feel is yours).

So in order to help you with today's lesson:

"Or where you to stupid to cash the checks".....Or WERE you TOO stupid.....

"You represent all the is currently wrong with target in thinkin you get something for nothing"........You represent all THAT is.........THINKING....

Love how your own response proves my point that you feel that you are entitled. Assuming you did get paid for your 20 years already. Or where you to stupid to cash the checks. You represent all the is currently wrong with target in thinkin you get something for nothing

But if we email HR, won't we be on a black list of some sort? I don't have another job lined up, but I would like to be on the next cycle of layoffs but still receive all benefits others did.

If it doesn't cause a negative impact to stock price or our image in the media, no one at the C-level gives a shit. Briann is just as bad as Gregg.

I have worked at several companies that would announce there will be layoffs, give a number, then tell those people immediately. Those people are given a date 90 days ahead that is their last day of work, which gives them time to look for a new job and transition their work to others. This is the humane way to do things and reduces anxiety, rumors, and speculation. Get it together, Target.

Best company can give to its employee is 3 month notice. If he gets job during that time, company need not give any severance else company can pay severance. This could avoid unnecessary layoff fear and anxiety among employees. This is a suggestion to senior management. Please get away from inhuman practice of disabling employee ids and treating him like criminal. If you are letting him go give some dignity to him.
