Not necessarily a bad thing. Moving to another part of the country--even for the same salary-- can often boost your standard of living. More house for half the money. Some states like NV and TX have no state income tax, lower sales taxes, and gas for under $3 per gallon! You can get that pickup you've always dreamed of. ; )

There are lot of interesting things happening in Irvine/LA area which you might want to check out as well. It relatively very easy to get offer from SV ( We are lucky that while Q is collapsing outside market is getting hotter ) but if you include Irvine/LA its not much behind SV...SV has its own issues and its very saturated.

Things can change in few months but based on my experience its pretty good for now. though folks who need immigration sponsorship are in bit on tough spot..
