H1B's are willing to put up with unreasonable demands from their supervisors because they don't have much options,Leads in QCT loves H1B's and thats why we have flood of them entering in to Q in last few years when hiring norms were relaxed to hire army needed to support Android growth ( I wish management had some vision and went contracting route to support short term spike in business). H1B is a modern form of slavery which hurt company in long term...

Pay is just just a illusion ( H1B are paid much less for equivalent service not H1B is willing to provide at without then knowing it , Its complex debate so I am not going in to details here ) ...The problem with H1B dependent employee ( I myself is an ex H1B) is that they are ready bend backwards do anything your godfather ( in QC case there are multiple, but your lead the primary one)...so all ex H1Bs like me who are now in sr management know how it played out and value H1Bs loyal puppet because I know that you are a slave till you have H1B and I can export you the way I want...manager crowd like H1B because they are loyal slaves and cant afford to question them....Company get shafted but manager get a servant....sorry for whining but I am leaving so just wanted to share some of my own frustration...
In big companies like QCOM your individual talent is not very important after you are in...you need to learn how the game is played if you want to grow in big corporations like QCOM, They are very different beast than startups who can to afford these kind of efficiencies....
First thing to clear up is that H1B’s are not paid less but must meet the prevailing wages according to specialty and title/level. You might be thinking that QC was getting less because it paid less. Not so. They are paid the same as US residents and citizens. Now with that knowledge, do you still think they are worth the paid?
