I suspect this might be targeting specific product portfolios ? AI/SF ? There was a substantially large number of new hires at SKO last week though !

They are doing it again. Riverbed is hiding a layoff or work place reduction in performance related firing. Look for a bunch of Riverbed employees hitting the street in a few weeks.
