I make about ~300k per year including salary, cash bonus and RSUs. I have around 700k in unvested RSUs. I don't want to move out of SD because I paid off my mortgage recently. How do I save my job?

I totally believe in part where this idiot VP was not being able to qualify for Sr engineer job. His courage to attempt this reality check is commendable..

Glad I'm just a lowly engineer pulling in $200k/year while my rental income pulls in another $100k/or so....I guess if I do ever get riffed, I still got income coming in elsewhere.
I would say stick around and suck it up, $300k/yr is very decent money for idiot like you. Don't spend it all on hookers and start saving some of it, if you get kicked out you will feel that getting minimum wage job is a great achievement, savings will come very handy in those moments....
You should consider yourself very lucky pulling in $300k/yr without knowing either politics or work.....and also managing VP title, what else you want?

Last time I looked which was 15 years ago, Qualcomm had 150 VPs. Now they must have almost 1K VPs.
