Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Bottom line: Too many middle managers & useless status collectors

Let's admit: We all know that the long chain of managements and extra layers over layers of hierarchies in some departments, is something that everybody notices when he comes to Q. Most of them don't have any real outputs other status collecting.

Amen. Accurately what's happening. I know a few like this. All they do is schedule meetings, ops review, etc, to learn the buzz words and be able to report upstream while giving you AIs. They are especially active around the review periods. These are usually long detached from doing any real work, been with the company 15+ years, sr dir or above. These layoffs are one in a generation opportunity to get rid of them, the exact reason this company is suffering. The danger is that the stack above them is not disimilar.

Why Qcom not use company email database and scrutinize people who are living on this status game ?( it's basically stealing others credit for own growth and screwing company )

they should fire all those status collector asses, they are doing nothing useful. so many uneducated useless managers/status collectors who do nothing useful for the company other than coming to work at 10 and leaving at 3 to beat the traffic and sit in random meetings to fill up their "working days"
