Anonymous115805 got it right, lot for junk got created in last 5 year of hiring on many QCT divisions and lot of smart folk became junk by by working in Shadow for > 10years.There are 2 different kind of junk,Its challenging job for SM need to figure out hour to shift through all this and retain right folks and get rid of crap
the main target should be the number of VPs, managers and directors who have been promoted and are more like glorified program managers..... and there are many in SD to be removed...... it is a very good move.... this was long needed.... some VPs are already out of QUALCOMM to join start ups where they will need do some useful work and H1bs and Asian minions will not be doing the work for them....
NOT all geographies in same proportion for sure...this move is about cost cutting and streamline operation to support low and mid end stuff. So major cut is in western hemisphere..
That's what I heard, all verticals, all geographies. The thing is, they cannot hit everyone with the same force, so - there will be differences in the intensity
